Welcome to the new St. John’s Website! On behalf of the Communications Ministry Team, our clergy and staff, I offer the first post on our church’s blog.
Our new website seeks to do two things better than our previous one.
First, we want to be the place where church members can go to find out what’s going on at St. John’s, as well as very specific ways in which you can participate. If you miss a Sunday, you can download the bulletin and watch the sermon.
Our goal is to remain current with news, announcements and opportunities to serve.
Our social media access points through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will give you real time updates on things going on in the St. John’s community.
Our second point of focus is for those who want to know more about us to discern if this is a community they’d consider being a part. As it is with most things nowadays, we visit online long before we visit in person. Through our website we want to be very clear: St. John’s is an open, welcoming community for everyone, even as we recognize that not everyone will want to be a part of such a community. We believe that telling who we are on the front end as we match information with invitation has integrity.
As for our church blog, it is here that we will add the element of a voice, a perspective on things going on with us, in our community and beyond. The voice of the church blog will extend beyond me. It will include all of our appointed clergy. It will be the place where those issues that matter to us are spoken. It will be the place where we can engage in conversation about the complexities of a life of faith. The voices of the staff and laity will be heard through this medium. I believe it to be an exciting addition to our efforts to say who we are and why we are.
So, that’s it. We’ve pushed off from shore…we’ve launched.
Come take the journey with us.
