Adult Ministries

Here's a list of what's happening in our Christian Education, beginning at 9:30am on Sunday mornings:
Pastor's Bible Study - Each Sunday, one of our clergy members leads an all-ages class on a special topic. This study meets in the Fellowship Hall.
Sojos - An all-ages book study group that is always searching for a deeper understanding of God’s word and ways to live out that word, especially as it relates to social justice. Recent authors we have studied include Rev. William Barber, Rachel Held Evans, and Richard Rohr. This study meets in Room 305. Contact teacher Herb Levy at herbnmarj [at] att [dot] net.
Young Adults Class - A class for young adults ranging from college age to 50s aiming to grow stronger in community with one another through spiritual formation, Bible study, fellowship, and service. Meets in the Room Outside the Chapel. Contact teachers Ashley and Ryan Baker at ashleymccandless [at] gmail [dot] com or rrb2770 [at] gmail [dot] com.
In Medias Res - A class for adults "In the Middle of Things" ages 50+ aiming to grow stronger in community with one another through spiritual formation, Bible study, fellowship, and service. Meets in Room 307. Contact teacher Dawn Lafon at dlafon740 [at] aol [dot] com.
Covenant - This long-standing class of senior adults enjoys Bible study and fellowship using the Cokesbury Adult Bible Studies as its cornerstone curriculum. Meets in Room 205. Contact teacher John Barker at jrbphd [at] gmail [dot] com.

We also offer a Bible Study each Tuesday morning at 10:00am.  The group meets in the Hospitality Room located just inside the West Entrance.

United Methodist Women

UMW is the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders and advocating for justice.  The women of St. John's are deeply involved in almost every facet of ministry here, enabling strong leaders committed to justice and loving that which God loves.  Additionally, there are numerous events planned throughout the year to foster fellowship and spiritual growth for all of the women at St. John's.

United Methodist Men

The mission of UMM is to  help men grow in Christ so that others may know Christ.  At St. John's, UMM lives out this mission by supporting existing ministries, including the Community Garden, Care Team, and the United Methodist Community on Relief (UMCOR).  Additionally, UMM meets at 8:30am for breakfast on the third Sunday of each month in the L.P. Brown Fellowship Hall with a noted community speaker at each gathering.
