About the event
You are invited to join us Tuesdays at 10 in the ROTC as Lee Ramsey leads us in a study of the gospel accounts of the resurrection. Have you ever wondered about the different endings to the four Gospels? Each one seems to add a distinctive pattern and color to the resurrection of Jesus and its impact upon his followers. Twist the viewfinder to Mark, and you see the women running silently from the empty tomb saying “nothing to anyone for they were afraid.” Click the viewfinder again to the end of Luke’s Gospel, and see Jesus at a post-resurrection communion table taking bread, blessing and breaking it, and giving it to the disciples. Matthew has us overhear the first “spin-doctors” on the disappearance of Jesus. And John has Jesus grilling fish on the beach to feed awe-struck disciples. Why the distinctive endings? What differences do they make for us and the world? We’ll see similar yet distinctive patterns within each gospel. And we will likely discover new, colorful images of the resurrected Jesus that we have not quite seen before.
